Origin story

PNG coffee has been the staple of the Australian coffee industry for more than 50 years. We have had this coffee as a standard in our repertoire since we started. It is always a refreshing change from all other coffees to cup, with hints of the tropical forest.

Coffee was first introduced to Papua New Guinea in the late 19th century, but it wasn’t until the 1920s that commercial planting began to take off—mostly in the Highlands, where the altitude, rainfall and rich volcanic soil created ideal growing conditions. Over time, smallholder farmers became the backbone of the industry, hand-picking and processing their own coffee, often using traditional methods. Today, PNG is known for its unique, wild and complex flavours, thanks to the country's diverse microclimates and the strong connection between local communities and their land.

    Nice!

A more complex taste than Blend 2 or 10.

Difficult to get the grind right. Variable results even when using the same timing / grind settings. When the grind was right, the coffee was fine.

Love the idea but the taste...

Wanted to love this bean, love that it's wild and picked by locals but it's just not great.

Upfront is fine, tastes like an okay bean then finishes with a very lingering dirt flavour.

It's saving grace is you can add a decent amount of brown sugar and it tastes like french toast, with a little dirt at the end.
