Behind the Bean
Kenya Coffee is regarded as a benchmark of remarkable tasting, well-balanced coffee. This AA-grade coffee is no exception. The AA refers to the screen size of 17/18 which fetches the highest price.
The Farm
The coffee was first planted in 1953 and is grown in rich volcanic soil on the southern slopes of Mount Ken of Nyeri from three different hybrid varietals specifically developed for the needs of growing conditions of Kenya
The Cooperative
This cooperative grown coffee with 2858 farmers, each producing on approximately 1/3 hectare. there is 25 permanent staff and the co-op is structured with a board that has two members from each of the three washing stations.
The Cherry
The Cherry is sorted for ripeness and size, prior to pulping and fermentation. Clean river water is used for the washing process, which is then filtered in sullage pits before being released again to the groundwater table.
