How to Make a Great Iced Chocolate At Home

How to Make a Great Iced Chocolate At Home

Honestly, this is all about the ingredients.

Simple and honest goodness that will make a summer afternoon sing.

We don't do things by half measures. It's going to be a big delicious iced chocolate to really get you going. If you want to reduce the size. just halve the ingredients.

The Organic Chocolate Powder

To start, you will want to scoop in two generous heaped spoons of Sweet Jasper's organic drinking chocolate. This stuff is honestly some of the best tasting drinking chocolate on the market, it's sourced from cocoa farmers in the Dominican republic. It's a recipe we have perfected over years of experimentation and fine tuning.

Mix with a dash of 90 degree water.

Stir until the powder becomes a liquid, just thick enough to drip off your spoon easily. You want the water hot so that it mixes all the chocolate and sugars together well.

Optional: Add half a teaspoon of cinnamon or cardamom to give your chocolate a bit of an extra oomph. If your feeling adventurous, add a teaspoon of watered down marmalade to create a great orange iced chocolate Jasper Jaffa.

Good quality milk is key.

Using good milk will make a big difference, especially when it makes up so much of the drink. Just as important in coffee, a rich milk with enough fats to create the creamy texture and sweetness is what your after.

Our milk of choice:

We recommend using Biodynamic Demeter milk if you can get it. Honestly taste this side by side with a regular milk from the supermarket and you will see what I'm talking about. This stuff is the best of the best, there is a natural sweetness that you just can't replicate. Knowing that the cows are looked after and cared for, with an opportunity to live a full life grazing fields is definitely a benefit.

No other milk comes close.

Gently pour over your chocolate mixture and let it do it's thing.

If you want to be really fancy, add a scoop of ice cream before the chocolate, let it melt a bit as you pour and stir everything together.

It's so simple, but this summer you absolutely can not beat a good iced chocolate.

For bonus points, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Don't forget to have a bit of fun, add a dash of cardamom or cinnamon to the chocolate powder, or a shot of espresso for a great iced mocha.
