Kelaguar Heights tea and coffee estate is a 4th Generation Family farm, owned and run by the Mathias Family. Employees and their families are provided with onsite housing, a hospital, a creche and two junior schools. They use only pure spring water to nourish their coffee trees.
Honey process coffee is when the coffee beans are dried with some or all the fruit remaining on the coffee seed, leaving a sticky sweet outer layer of the fruit. This makes for a very juicy, fruity and complex coffee in the cup. This estate store their coffee in hardwood boxes for 2-3 months, to elevate the ageing process, and produce the rich, full bodied flavour notes from the coffee.
Makes a nice brew, can definitely taste the honey flavours. Can taste a little bitter so I prefer drinking it hot rather than cold, although it still makes a nice long black over ice in summer.
I absolutely loved this one. I hope it comes out more regularly. It was seriously one of the best tasting coffees I have had.
