Kenya coffee is regarded as a benchmark of remarkable tasting well-balanced coffee. This AA grade coffee is no exception. The AA grade refers to the screen size of 17/18 which will fetch the highest prices. It was first planted in 1953 and is grown in rich volcanic soil on the southern slopes of Mount Kenya, east of Nyeri, from 3 different hybrid varietals specially developed for the needs of growing conditions of Kenya.

This is Cooperative grown coffee with 2,858 farmers, each producing on approx. 1/3 Hectare. There are 25 permanent staff and the Coop is structured with a Board with 2 members from each of 3 washing station areas. The Cherry is sorted for ripeness and size prior to pulping and fermentation. Clean river water is used for the washed process, which is then filtered in sullage pits before being released again to the groundwater table.

The Coop has a coffee quality improvement project with the aim of doubling their production and sales to 3 million kg. The Coop also runs cattle and is one of Kenya’s largest suppliers of dairy products. As a Fairtrade Coop, it also set up a petrol station to cover overheads and increase revenue for the farmers.

We have waited patiently to release this exceptional experience to our customers and rekindle our karma for Kenya.
