At Jasper Coffee we feel deeply indebted to the great Team at Oxfam Australia.
Through their dedication to improving the lives of people around the world, the Australian Oxfam arm took on nurturing and supporting financially the Fair Trade Association of Australia and New Zealand through its infancy and first formative steps.
Without their determination to cause change through education and awareness about the global coffee trading process and their fundamental support for the Fairtrade Principles we would not have been able to join the remarkable chain of partnership that the Fairtrade Certification and Licensing creates for all who participate.
Over the past 3 years Oxfam have funded growers from Fairtrade Co-operatives to come and speak directly to the Australian community of the real and genuine impact that Fairtrade Certification means to themselves their children and their environment.
Whether from New Guinea, Ghana or Costa Rica, across the world the growers each movingly articulated how through Fairtrade their daily lives are changing.
Witnessing these growers pride and determination to be the best they can, producing quality produce in circumstances that are often, harsh, violent, and hearing their clear and convincing case that their lives and communities are better through Fairtrade gives us the inspiration to continue to advocate for the Fairtrade movement despite the cynics.
We are delighted to have our Fairtrade coffees available in Oxfam stores around Australia.
